As a child, I was lucky to live with my mum in the UK while she was doing her PhD. My very first introduction to economics wasn’t in a classroom or from a textbook, but right there on our living room floor. I watched her prepare transparencies for her TA sessions, and that’s how I first learned about concepts like the prisoner’s dilemma and comparative advantage in trade.

Those moments planted the seed for what would later become a lifelong journey in economics.

Smarties inspired by that same spirit of discovery. It’s a collection of bright little pops of knowledge — playful, accessible, and designed to spark curiosity. Created with young people, for young people, Smarties offers a first introduction to the joy and fun of economics.

We hope our content makes learning economics feel less like homework, and more like setting out on a puzzle adventure.
